Picture Taking Time

Arcade Engagement Photos {Katie & Brandon}

It has truly been a while since I’ve taken photos. In fact, since my move to Columbus over a year and a half ago, I don’t think I’ve done a single photo shoot. LIFE, am I right?

*Shameless Plug: Check out my portfolio site sometime! http://meghanelizabeth.zenfolio.com/*

OKAY but recently a work friend asked me to take a few low key engagement photos for her. She and her fiance are super fun, and love video games. She’s planning on working a few little video game themes into her wedding, and it sounds so fun!! We have this really cool bar in Columbus called 16-Bit, where you can play all the old school arcade games your heart can handle, as long as you’re drinking their drinks (and honestly, even if you’re not). It’s a really cool place and seemed like a great spot for these two.

I confess, I don’t have the lighting equipment to do much indoor shooting. But between the natural light at the front of the bar, and the wonders of photoshop, I think we got a few fun shots! I think her save the date may include something along these lines…

A cool, comic-booky, arcade-y type image, don’t you think? A little bit of editing on the game between them, and it will say “Save the Date” along with the date and city of their upcoming nuptials. Clever move, Katie. Clever. Move.

And so here are a few more of my favorites from the shoot. Enjoy!

Life As I Know It

This Guy

Who is this guy? Well, he is the one for me.

This is the guy who calls me at work every day just to tell me he loves me – often times, he sings or yells it.

This is the guy who makes me giggle.

This is the guy who falls to his knees playing air guitar.

This is the guy who loves God, me, chicken, and beer… in that order.

This is the guy who wears a baseball hat (almost) everyday.

This is the guy who takes care of me when I am sick (and there has been a lot of that in the last two years!)

This is the guy who wants me to succeed, and is proud of me when I do.

This is the guy who surprises me with fun dates and trips.

This is the guy who wore a cheesehead after knowing me for only a month.

This is the guy who cooks dinner for me when I’m exhausted.

This is the guy who tells it like it is, means what he says, and always follows through.

This is the guy I am so proud to have in my life.

And who is this girl?

This is the happiest and luckiest girl in the world.

She’s in some Book of World Records somewhere for being the luckiest, but don’t bother looking for it. It’s a super-secret, exclusive edition.

In case you haven’t heard (or figured it out), Jonathan and I are engaged! He proposed to me after a picnic by the lake on a beautiful fall day in Kentucky. I am so thrilled and cannot wait to continue our life journey together as husband and wife!!

Cooking Class at Viking

Guess what!  Another friend is engaged 🙂  And to surprise her and celebrate the engagement, her new hubby-to-be brought a whole bunch of us to Viking Cooking School to participate in a cooking class.  And it was so fun!!  Here are some pictures from our adventures in homemade pasta making…
