Life As I Know It, Picture Taking Time

Holiday Favorites {Photo Dump}

Over the holidays, we spent six nights in my home state of Wisconsin, and then six nights in my hubby’s home state of Tennessee. We spent most of the time with family, a few friends, and each other. It was relaxing and also long enough that by the time it was over, I was very ready to get back to my regular work routine.

Here are a few gems from our travels!!

Life As I Know It

Happy 2015!

I hope everyone had a fun and safe time ringing in another new year. 2014 was exactly as I hoped it would be – free of very much change. 2013 brought SO MUCH CHANGE that I started 2014 hoping for some routine. Other than getting our puppy Ryman on January 2, and then me starting a new job on December 15, not a lot of major change came our way this year, which is A-OKAY BY ME!

The year did bring a lot of travel, both for work and for fun, several weddings, more grad school completed for my husband, and more settling into our life in Columbus. I don’t have any new resolutions, but will definitely try to focus more on my 30 before 30 list, since there are only about nine months left!! Yikes.

My hopes for 2015 is that my husband finds a job he loves (after successfully graduating from grad school, of course), that I continue to grow in my new position, that we do not worry about our next steps, and that we truly enjoy this year of turning 30. I don’t know when we will have kids, but this is very possibly the last year without them, and I truly hope we can continue to improve our health and happiness in the meantime.

Come back tomorrow for a fun little project I’ve been waiting to share with you! Have a wonderful Monday!!

Love,

Megs

Life As I Know It, Traveling Chick

Boston {somewhere new}

I’ve told you how my boyfriend, Jonathan The Adventurer, is simply the best travel partner there is. In the nearly-one year we’ve been together, we’ve flown to Chicago twice, New York, San Antonio, and of course Wisconsin to visit my family. We’ve also taken little trips to Kentucky,ย Chattanooga, Memphis, Atlanta, and even just outside Nashville. And for New Year’s Eve, he’s at it again!

As we speak, we are on our way to Boston. This will be my first trip there, and I can’t wait to get to know the city and see all the sights with my honey. It will be a quick weekend trip, but I can’t wait to get back and share our adventures with you!

Life As I Know It

Epic NYE Weekend.

I learned a really important lesson this weekend: The worst laid plans are usually the most fun.

A month or two ago, one of my best friends from home and I began planning her visit to Nashville for New Years Eve. She booked flights, and we went shopping for fancy dresses. Other than that though, we really didn’t have very many plans. Meanwhile Katy invited her friend from home for the weekend as well. It was already destined to be a most excellent weekend.

And then on Wednesday night, I received a call from my cousin — he and a friend decided to get in the car and head to Nashville on Thursday.

If you didn’t already know, I am a planner. Through and through, I need at least some sort of agenda for any vacation or visitors. But I must admit that this weekend turned into likely the most fun I have had in years. It was a non-stop marathon of laughter, and much our time was spent sitting around (a.k.a. recovering), laughing, and sharing stories. Inside jokes were made, pictures were taken, and now, a fond, 4-day memory has been formed.

An added bonus was that Adam and I, who have never spent a moment together outside of family functions, actually became legitimate friends. Turns out we knew very little about each others’ every day lives…you cannot begin to imagine his surprised face when he asked me what I preferred to drink, and I responded, “jack & diet.” I don’t think he was expecting that.

Suffice it to say, the house feels quiet. This weekend it had seven people in it. Now, it’s just back to the three of us. I admit that I had high hopes for the weekend, but it seriously could not have worked out any better. I have never in my life had my expectations exceeded so greatly.

I won’t bore you with too many details, since, for the most part, they are only funny to us. But I will share with you a few highlight photos from the weekend.

There was some…um…dancing and such.

Our happy little crew.

At the Frist on Sunday afternoon.

All sorts of love all weekend long!!
