Not *EXACTLY* following the trainer here. But this was a little more fun. I was scared to start these programs, and REALLY scared to start sharing them publicly like this. But what was I afraid of? Failing? I was already failing at my physical health so what was there to lose. Embarrassment? Why should I be embarrassed for trying to take better care of myself. Vulnerability? Vulnerability makes us human, brings us closer, relates us. My relationships have IMPROVED by taking better care of myself. What are you afraid of? You guys, change is S.L.O.W.... You just cannot expect for January 1 to come around and you are suddenly 100% invested in a workout routine and perfect clean eating and no mess ups. It won't last!! I have found a better way that has worked for ME. And that's being in a group who works out “together” each day from our own homes. Checking in for accountability and that ever important check mark. Following a portion controlled plan with tons of options and variety. Making better decisions one at a time. And MOST IMPORTANTLY, when you stray off the path, just forgiving yourself and getting back on. We have LIVES. We are wives, moms, employees, friends. We have treats, we have outings. But still, we TAKE CARE of our bodies. We are conscious of what's going in our mouths. Does this sound like a group you could fit in with? We have a few groups starting after the new year. Are you working on your emotional strength? As much as I post about physical health, I NEED to share with you that I have really focused on my emotional strength this year too. This has been the secret sauce of 2019 for me. What does that mean? 📚Filling my head with positive and encouraging messaging through books & podcasts. 📱Tailoring my social media to show only positive content that inspires me. 👨‍👩‍👧Defining my top five priorities for this season of my life, and then removing anything "extra" from my schedule. 🕔Taking control of the hours of each day. 👩‍⚕️Going to therapy with regularity, instead of "when I feel like it." 💻Showing up for my coaching team calls each week. 👯‍♀️Cheering on others as they work on their own health journey. Nutrition helped me lose weight. Workouts made me stronger. You see all my workout posts - this is the easy stuff to share. What you don't see is me eating leftover meatloaf three nights in a row, or skipping the break room donuts, or spending time planning, shopping, and prepping groceries for the week. Does that stuff take time and brain power? YES. For me, it is much harder than pressing play for 30 minutes, but nutrition is 80% of what has gotten me where I am. Workouts and personal development are making me STRONG both physically and mentally. If nutrition is your struggle, you are NOT alone. I am in a season of working out in our guest room. Sleep is a precious commodity in our house these days and I would eat my breakfast in my closet if it meant Charlotte slept a little longer. So every morning I tiptoe - LITERALLY - up our stairs and past her room. I do not turn on lights. I do not collect 200 dollars. I get ready in the dark and quiet, close the bedroom door, and do my workout with the volume on 1. And I am GRATEFUL. Grateful that I have been able to get healthy in small spaces and sleepless circumstances.
