So, this is actually my favorite little protein bar so far…but it’s my husband’s least favorite. To each his own, I guess. But I like it because it is dense with peanut butter and honey, and you can tell. Husband says it tastes like cardboard. Not sure what to tell you, but maybe if you have all these ingredients on hand like I did recently, you can try it and let me know what you think.
Cinnamon Chocolate Protein Bars (12 servings)
1 cup oats – roasted in the oven without oil for 10-15 minutes
1/2 cup peanut butter (natural)
1/4 cup honey
1/4 cup apple sauce (unsweetened)
2 tablespoons grain sweetened chocolate chips
1/2 cup whey protein powder (unflavored or vanilla)
1/2 tablespoon cinnamon
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Be sure that your oats are cooled from being in the oven, and then combine all of your ingredients in a bowl. Spread the mixture into a square pan, and bake for about 15 minutes (my oven bakes very hot, so I think I took them out around 12 minutes), or until edges have browned.
You could also add varieties to these bars, including nuts, dried fruits, chia seeds, etc. Let me know if you try them, and if you like them like I did, or hate them like my husband did!
