I had a few small secrets throughout my wedding day. For my something old, I carried my grandmother’s hanky – she was my father’s mother and passed away when I was in 5th grade. Meanwhile, my dad carried his father’s hanky – my grandfather, who passed away when I was 17. My other something old was the 1930s broach pinned to my bouquet, which my mom found and bought for me earlier this year.
My something borrowed was my mom’s pearl droplet necklace, which went perfectly with the style of my dress and the wedding overall.
But my something blue is my favorite.
When I turned 16, my mom and dad each gave me a gold ring that had both diamonds and sapphires (my birthstone) on it. Neither of them knew it ahead of time…but they each gave me the exact ring, unplanned! It was such a great example of the love the each have for me, and me for them. So on my wedding day, I asked my florist to tie these rings to my bouquet. It was a special reminder, just for me, of the relationships I have with my family.
catch the tear…………..love you
