Life As I Know It, Thoughts in the Faith

God loves them too. Maybe more.

I have an incredible amount of impatience. And I will be the first to admit it. This can really be a problem when dealing with people who don’t exactly match my personality type–I am easily frustrated and disenchanted, and I am quick to make judgements about their choices and situations.

But there is one thing that I can say to myself in those situations to really change my attitude: “God loves them too. Maybe more.” Though I don’t remind myself of this nearly often enough, it’s a great reality check. No matter how much I detest, disagree with, or don’t understand somebody, God loves them too. And then I try to humble myself by saying you know, maybe he even loves them more than he loves me. Now I don’t know if God exactly has levels to his love, but if he did, it is possible he loves some people a whole lot more than he loves me. I’m just saying.

So no, I don’t keep this little phrase in my head as often as I should.  If I did, I would be a much much MUCH better person.  But if ever you are really, really struggling with someone, just try it and see if you are able to change your perception even just a little bit.
