Tasty Tuesday: Memorial Madness

It was an all-in-all successful Memorial Day. I realized that we had a cookout last Memorial Day, just after we moved into the house. Hard to believe it’s been over a year! Anyway, take a look at the goodies we enjoyed…

Want to make these little delicious treats? Just melt Hershey’s kisses onto tiny twist pretzels (275 degrees, 3 minutes), remove, and immediately press a single m&m on each. Refrigerate until eating to make sure they are deliciously solid!

See the iced tea I brewed? To try this flavored, yet unsweetened tea, just brew orange spice, orange pekoe, and lemon teas (4:4:2) in 1 gallon of hot water. Allow to cool and serve over ice!

My dad’s famous pasta salad. Sorry, can’t give out this recipe…but with pepperoni, pepper jack cheese, and green chilies, it definitely has a little kick 🙂

Chicken kabobs! A summer favorite. We also had burgers stuffed with cheddar and blue cheese, but as I was on grill duty they disappeared far too quickly for me to take pictures of them. I also highly recommend grilling a few skewers of just meat and just veggies just to have them on the side…

And though it was supposed to rain, it ended up being quite warm and humid. Luckily, Tucker found a nice cool spot in our bushes…

  1. OMG, those pretzels look so good and so EASY to make! I’m definitely trying this. My son is having his 2nd birthday party soon, these new snacks will be there.

  2. Those little pretzels are so cute! I do the same thing but with a rolo instead of a Hershey’s Kiss. You can’t go wrong with chocolate either way!

  3. I made the M & M treats for a church pot luck – and a smaller gathering later in the evening – big hit at both. So many asking me how to do it. Thanks for the recipe – love stuff that is easy and makes such a good impression! (and tastes good too!!)

  4. I’ve made these with a pretzel, a rolo candy and a cashew nut. Same idea. Same delicious result. I got the recipe from a great cashier at our local supermarket. She was gifting them out to customers as they came through her line during the holidays. Yummm.

  5. I love these! So does everyone else I make them for! I use the round pretzels with either the combination of rolos and regular m&ms or any hersheys kisses/hugs and peanut butter m&ms. Waxed paper under them while cooking is very helpful for getting them off the pan once they’ve cooled. Just pick up the paper and give it a few shakes and maybe a few flicks on the underside and they’re off!

  6. When I initially commented I seem to have clicked the -Notify me when new comments are
added- checkbox and now each time a comment is added I recieve 4 emails with the same
comment. There has to be an easy method you can remove me from that service?
    Thank you!

    1. Hi! I’m really sorry but I’m not sure – you will probably need to contact wordpress support on that. I am not able to change follower preferences!

  7. Reblogged this on Megoirs and commented:

Before there was Pinterest, there was foodgawker (well, it still exists, but is less important). Back in 2009 when I posted this post, I had no idea that the photo of my M&M Pretzels would go nuts. I got it on foodgawker, and years later, it spread out over Pinterest. Because of these social media pushes, this post has been viewed more than any other post – even my homepage!!! – with over 58,000 views. Heyo!
