Watermelon Margaritas + Memorial Day

As I mentioned yesterday, I had a great weekend with my dad. And then on Monday, after he left, I spent the afternoon with some friends grilling out and enjoying the weather. I brought Ryman over as well, since one of my friends had his two Dauchshunds. Meeting each other was a little iffy, but once everyone settled in, I think they had a fun day playing! And Ryman has pretty much been out cold ever since…

Also, as promised, I have a DELICIOUS margarita recipe for you. In fact, it is a WATERMELON MARAGARITA. HELLO. I know it’s not the prettiest picture, but that’s life, guys.

Watermelon Margaritas

3 cups watermelon

2 cups tequila

1/2 cup lime juice

1/2 cup orange juice

3 tablespoons sugar

large pinch of salt

Blend it all up, and pour it over ice!! You could also blend it with ice, however watermelon has so much water in it, that even blending it with ice doesn’t make it very “slushy,” so I recommend just skipping the blended ice and serving it on the rocks. Garnish with a lime and/or watermelon wedge!

Happy Short-Week Tuesday!

I hope you all had a wonderful, long weekend. My hubs was out of town, so my papa came to visit me from Wisconsin for a M-A-D weekend (Meghan and Dad). We didn’t do anything overly exciting – ran errands, made a few repairs, watched a movie, did some cooking. Sunday night we went out for pizza with a few friends, mostly so he knows that I have friends :) But overall, it is always so nice to just hang out with my parents without an agenda!

Of course, we made a costco trip, where we bought some delicious scallops. Seriously, SO GOOD! Dad cooked them up for us with “fried spaghetti,” and although I don’t want to know how much butter he put it in it, it was entirely delicious.

For another meal, we picked up sausages from Schmidts, and cooked them at home…with our favorite beverage, champagne. This is sadly¬†awesomely pretty typical for us…

Ryman LOOOVVVED my dad, and was constantly snuggling up to him on the couch. Sorry for the fuzzy iPhone photo.

All in all, it was a relaxing and productive weekend, with beautiful weather. After he left on Monday morning to drive home, I spent the afternoon at a friends…More on that, plus a delicious margarita recipe, tomorrow!

Memorial Day Weekend {via Instagram}

Because instagram is just so fun, I tried to capture the sweetest moments of my family weekend in Wisconsin on my phone. Below you will find homegrown coffee shops; sunshiney creeks; sweet summer berries; a Milwaukee brew tour with one of my favorite ladies; Texas Hold ‘Em with pops; lots of pups to snuggle; a new baby with his great-grandparents; a chilly Lake Michigan; patio time; sweets and treats; and a whole lot of love! Tasty Tuesday: Memorial Madness

It was an all-in-all successful Memorial Day. I realized that we had a cookout last Memorial Day, just after we moved into the house. Hard to believe it’s been over a year! Anyway, take a look at the goodies we enjoyed…

Want to make these little delicious treats? Just melt Hershey’s kisses onto tiny twist pretzels (275 degrees, 3 minutes), remove, and immediately press a single m&m on each. Refrigerate until eating to make sure they are deliciously solid!

See the iced tea I brewed? To try this flavored, yet unsweetened tea, just brew orange spice, orange pekoe, and lemon teas (4:4:2) in 1 gallon of hot water. Allow to cool and serve over ice!

My dad’s famous pasta salad. Sorry, can’t give out this recipe…but with pepperoni, pepper jack cheese, and green chilies, it definitely has a little kick :)

Chicken kabobs! A summer favorite. We also had burgers stuffed with cheddar and blue cheese, but as I was on grill duty they disappeared far too quickly for me to take pictures of them. I also highly recommend grilling a few skewers of just meat and just veggies just to have them on the side…

And though it was supposed to rain, it ended up being quite warm and humid. Luckily, Tucker found a nice cool spot in our bushes…
